Story of the Week
Why In-Person Networking Still Wins
Online connections are great for reach and efficiency, but nothing replaces the trust and energy that comes from meeting someone in real life. A handshake, a shared laugh, or a conversation over coffee can open doors that a cold email never will.
Some of my biggest opportunities have come from in-person events, conferences, and even casual meetups. The people I have met in these settings have become collaborators, mentors, and lifelong friends.
How to Find the Right People
1. Go Where Your People Are:
Look for local meetups, industry events, or conferences where people in your field gather. Even a small group can lead to big connections.
2. Be Curious, Not Just Strategic:
Ask questions, listen, and show genuine interest. The best relationships start with curiosity, not an agenda.
3. Give Before You Ask:
Offer help, share resources, or make introductions without expecting anything in return. People remember those who lead with value.
4. Follow Up:
After you meet someone, send a quick note or message. Mention something specific from your conversation. This small gesture goes a long way.
Online Networking That Feels Real
If meeting in person isn’t possible, you can still build meaningful relationships online. Join mastermind groups, participate in live webinars, or start a small accountability group. The key is to show up consistently and engage in ways that go beyond surface-level comments.
Your Challenge
This week, reach out to one person you admire or want to learn from. Invite them for coffee, a call, or just a chat. Or attend a local event and introduce yourself to someone new. You never know where one real connection might lead.
Here is to building relationships that last!
